Written in a style that might be described as Edward Abbey meets Hunter S. Thompson, conspiracy, arson and ineptitude threaten the desert West, and only a misanthropic hermit, a subversive schoolteacher and an unemployed business writer stand in the way.

Living as a squatter on public land, Rollo has long waged a personal war against the Forest Service, so it's little surprise when rangers burn him out of his latest shack. But when Rollo is subsequently blamed for a disastrous wildfire, he seeks help from his close friend, Scott, an anarchically minded outdoors enthusiast, and Scott's girlfriend Lani, who dislikes Rollo but shares his distaste for authority. While investigating a suspicious new forest fire, the trio interrupts a bizarre but vicious gang of environmental terrorists. Chased through the canyon country of northern Arizona, Rollo, Scott and Lani must rely on their wits and skills to survive. Just steps behind, their pursuers compensate for incompetence and sexual eccentricity with fanaticism and official connections. Hanging in the balance is the fate of human habitation throughout the West or maybe just peace and quiet in downtown Flagstaff.

Mister Said’s Dream World Mister Said likes to visit his dream world. And basically, he wants that world to stay as it is - a quiet place where Mister Said can be alone with his thoughts. Its always daytime, but the light is soft. Even though there are no clouds in the sky, you can’t see the sun anywhere and there aren’t any shadows. The light appears from nowhere. Mister Said’s dream world is essentially a sea of endless hills. The hills are covered with grass and there aren’t many trees in the scene. There are no animals anywhere. Lots of streams run up and down Mister Said’s hills. He enjoys bathing in these streams. And the water is just as Mister Said likes it: somewhat chilly when you first get in, but afterwards perfect. In one of these frequent bathing sessions, it occurred to Mister Said to change the décor of his dream world. After all, it was his world. He started by placing some water up in the air. He liked the idea of diving into the water from below. What pleased him the most, though, was to raise himself up really high and dive in, with all his might, so that he would cut through the water and surface below. Another modification he made was to place some trees in the air, complete with their roots and earth. Some of these were put upside down, just for fun. They look good in the air. As well, he could sit close to them and quietly observe his dream world from above.

If Kat McGee had one Christmas wish, she'd wish to be special.

Instead, she's the boring middle in a family packed with sparkly siblings, including three sisters who have all starred as Mary in Totsville, Maine's annual big-deal Christmas Pageant. All Kat's done is wet her pants on a rollercoaster and earn herself the horrible nickname, "Kat McPee." When she doesn't get the part of Mary, Kat's convinced that Christmas will be just another Kat McPee failure.

But then Kat's beloved Gram lets it slip that she went to school with Mrs. Claus. The Mrs. Claus. Before Kat knows it, a magical snowglobe whisks her away to the North Pole, where she makes friends, checks naughty and nice lists, and takes classes in cookie baking, reindeer training, and toy designing. It's a Christmas miracle ...

But something is wrong. The North Pole is being threatened, and only Kat McGee can help.

MRS. CLAUS AND THE SCHOOL OF CHRISTMAS SPIRIT is a new Christmas classic about a modern girl in a magical adventure. Kat is about to learn that the spirit of Christmas is about what you give, not what you get, and who you can be if you believe in Christmas ... and yourself.
